THIRD PERSON

Terceira Pessoa is an artistic creation structure founded in 2012 by Ana Gil and Nuno Leão

His work is based on three axes of action: Creation, Mediation and Programming, always starting from approaches that cross several artistic expressions, which usually results in performative objects with a hybrid identity.

It is in the performing arts – theater, dance, performance – that Terceira Pessoa develops most of its work, having also developed projects in the visual arts, literature and digital art.

MISSION

IN ITS PROJECTS, THE THIRD PERSON FAVORS A MULTIDISCIPLINARY APPROACH, INTEGRATING PROFESSIONALS FROM DIFFERENT ARTISTIC LANGUAGES.

Reaching audiences of various age groups and from diverse socio-cultural backgrounds, Terceira Pessoa is building a project to bring the community closer to the cultural territories of its area, as well as other places in the country, and to promote an exchange between local heritage and contemporary languages.

THUS FOCUSES ITS ACTION ON THREE MAIN AXES:

– production and creation of artistic objects with the signature of the structure and dissemination of its areas of action as places of artistic production and creation and community projects at national and international level; – development and bringing audiences closer to contemporary artistic languages, through regular participatory and collaborative methodologies; – organization of multidisciplinary artistic programming cycles that promote the circulation of contemporary creators and public access to proposals of an admittedly contemporary and experimental nature.

HISTORY

In 2012 they developed the KURT COBAIN project, which included a group of young people aged 13 to 18. In 2013, in the HEY YOU project, they involved a group of 70 people of all ages in the creation and interpretation of a performance-manifesto. In 2014, with the INSCRIÇÃO project, they created a three-part show based on the book “Portugal, Hoje: o medo de existir” by José Gil. That same year they premiered the creation MÃOS PENSANTES OU MANUAL DE PENSAR. In 2015 they created the show PRIMEIRA INFÂNCIA: UM FABULÁRIO, which was part of TNDM II’s Newborn Cycle. In the same year they developed the multidisciplinary project FILOSOFIA DA PAISAGEM. In 2016, they premiered THE OLD IMAGE OF BEING LOVED in London, and presented it at various international and national theaters and festivals. In 2017 they premiered the show HERE IS ALWAYS ANOTHER PLACE and in 2018 the international collaboration show KIF-KIF (co-production with Teatromosca and Théatre de La Tête Noire).

As well as creative projects, Terceira Pessoa also runs SERVIÇO PÚBLICO – a series of talks about contemporary art; HÁ FESTA NO CAMPO and ALDEIAS ARTÍSTICAS, a project to develop villages through artistic practices. More recently, they created the show SENSO COMUM – UMA VAGA LEMBRANÇA DE UM ESPETÁCULO and FROM MY VILLAGE I SEE HOW MUCH OF THE EARTH CAN BE SEEN IN THE UNIVERSE (2018). In 2019 they will create the multidisciplinary artistic journey A LINE IS A POINT THAT WALKS.

They have also carried out various projects in the field of disciplinary crossings, involving more and more creators from various artistic languages and other areas of knowledge such as philosophy and science.
