TRACK, MARGIN, CLARION | In the imprecise vision of the wind
NA IMPRECISA VISÃO DO VENTO is a creation by Susana Paiva (image) and Diogo Martins (text) developed in the context of the multidisciplinary project "Rastro, Margem, Clarão", in which a collective of creators in the performing arts, visual arts and essayists set out to think about the writing of Rui Nunes (b. 1945) in its heterogeneities, thematic nodes and concerns, in a bold and heuristically transdisciplinary approach.

NA IMPRECISA VISÃO DO VENTO is a creation by Susana Paiva (image) and Diogo Martins (text) developed in the context of the multidisciplinary project “Rastro, Margem, Clarão”, in which a collective of creators in the performing arts, visual arts and essayists set out to think about the writing of Rui Nunes (b. 1945) in its heterogeneities, thematic nodes and concerns, in a bold and heuristically transdisciplinary approach.

Susana doesn’t feel spurred on by images that give her a mimicry of reality: if what she sees with the naked eye is imprinted on the film, she tries to disfigure what is visible, to darken the day, in search of other layers that disorient her and the image. […] The desire not to show what is seen through the image, but to offer those who look the invitation to imagine, to establish other secret links between things (the divine virtue of imagination, as Baudelaire said) – this is where Susana Paiva’s images communicate with the revolutionary becoming of the “temporal absence of those who sleep” according to Jonathan Crary, that leap of faith over the abyss of not knowing tomorrow: “an interval in which, close to the edge of consciousness, glimpses of a life not lived, of a life postponed, can reach us”. Signs of a world that continues without us being aware of it. Brief signs of a freedom that is being announced, of auspicious first wishes, of a politics of the possible and open, which is imagination as politics, as poetics, as a form of life. The unpredictable in the substance of the visible.

[…] These images show the bifurcation where language has to choose between fallibly saying the world and saying its own fallibility, speech that is flawed – the blindness of language, says Derrida – the world that does not come to be because there are still no words to name it, to delimit it, to unimagine it.
