SYNOPSIS

FROM MY VILLAGE I SEE HOW MUCH OF THE EARTH CAN BE SEEN IN THE UNIVERSE is a multidisciplinary performance that takes place between the vision of a drone and the hands of an embroiderer. During an artistic residency in each place, the creators live a series of experiences with the places and the people who inhabit them, and try to create a performative artistic object that shares these experiences.

How do we tell someone about all the days we spend in a place? How do we make these events shareable and transmissible through a performative device made up of words, voices, sounds, images, objects, gestures? How is it possible for a personal experience to become common ground for other people who weren’t there? How does this sharing of the sensible happen?

Throughout the various meetings we had with people from each place, this was the experience we proposed to them. That they tell us about their personal and collective memories, using objects, images, stories, moments, letters and postcards as a starting point. Listening to people share their stories, we always had a strong sense of presence; whenever people told something, it was as if the act of telling put us there, where what was being told happened. Whether we were in the village or elsewhere, whether we were in 2018 or any other year, whether it was today or a few years ago, the performative act of telling and sharing what was a memory always said: it’s here and now, again.
